Power, autonomy, excellent soundproofing…when all these qualities are combined in an open cruiser the salt water recollects candy thoughts …
The ultramodern luxury marine yachts are not necessarily conceived in Italy. Imagine a 28-meter open cruiser endowed with an autonomy soliciting long journeys for big projects: over 1100 miles with a single refueling at a cruise speed of 21 knots (38-89 km/h). Naturally, the rounded silhouette and fluid lines of Couach 2800 come out subtly in our mind. Straight out of the designer’s imagination, Couach 2800 Open combines all the qualities of an open yacht and a seafaring cruiser. Except for the seductive design and fine assembly, the quality craftsmen at COUACH implement their exceptional know-how in creating marine yachts with an excellent sea passage.
A Kevlar composite – steady and easy to handle
The yacht is solicited for long journeys regardless of the season and weather conditions. The materials used are consistent with the new Bureau Veritas rules for yacht classification NR500. The hull, deck and superstructure are built in composite materials: Kevlar, Aramat, glass fibre, resin matrix, and PVC foam which is stratified and compressed by hand or vacuum infused. Most probably you are familiar with all these elements which are typical for the offbeat cars we often discuss. So, it is absolutely pointless to further elaborate on their qualities; just three simple words: lightness, super stability and resistance. Proved at full speed, the steering is astonishingly easy and pleasant, with complete absence of vibration and perfect soundproofing. Very steady and easy to handle, 2800 Open is undoubtedly one of the best in terms of seaworthiness, allowing her owner to cruise without the assistance of a professional crew. She is very forgiving of a driver’s experience, allowing a good safety margin in all situations. This fast ocean cruising yacht is also capable of motoring along quietly at a speed range of 20 and 22 knots, at which she is well balanced.
Let the light in!
The interior in one of the custom-tailored yachts is realized in limed oak, bamboo and dark varnished teak. Designed as two separate areas, the first one is the actual saloon. Here, a gently curved four-seater sofa is positioned lengthways to port, with a deep armchair and a low table with curved ends in front of it – a perfect place for a welcome drink. The second area is arranged as the dining room, with an attractive round table to port surrounded by semi-circular banquette that seats five. The helm position forward opens a wide panoramic view; the console is housing two LCD screens and other instrumentation. From here, a wide stairway leads down into a central lobby, off which are the four cabins. More forward, the generously portioned VIP cabin at the bow offers a shower room with a large shower compartment and a separate head with washbasin and bidet. These are flanked by capacious hanging cupboards, in which all your toiletries and jewels can be safely placed.
For connoisseurs and dear guests
The owner’s cabin occupies the full beam of the yacht in the central position. The furniture is laid out in a classic arrangement: double bed in the center, dressing table to the port, wardrobe to starboard, and a sizeable sofa on one side. The four large lateral illuminators offer remarkable sea view, particularly when the yacht is sailing. The two guest cabins feature twin beds in the starboard cabin and a double bed in the one to the port. Both have deep, wide hanging cupboards and near-identical shower rooms with distinctive glass shower cubicle and separate head.
Inside the kitchenette
Situated forward of the engine compartment in the stern is the galley, which is so fully equipped that includes even a large wine cellar. It is also finished in limed oak with the same attention to detail as the rest of the interior. There is also a small table where crew members can take their meals. The galley is connected to the saloon by a dumb-waiter. From here there is direct access to the engine compartment, which houses two MTU 16V 2000hp engines. This compartment is large enough to accommodate the alternative MTU 16V 2400hp Common Rail engines, which would give the Open 2800 a top speed of over 50 knots. Totally, uncontested highest rank for its category! For instance, a 28-meter yacht Riva Duchessa manages to develop top speed of 28 knots and her autonomy is 350 miles at cruising speed of 25 knots.
The biggest prize
A large, totally separate garage on the stern platform houses semi-rigid 4,2m tender and a three-seater jet-ski. The deck starts with a classical arranggement in the stern section – a table facing the doors into the saloon, a large sunbathing area aft, a sink and barbecue/grill. Wide side decks protected by waist-height bulwarks with a handrail make the passage from stern to bow (aft-forward) easy and safe. And here it is – the biggest prize onboard 2800 Open – spacious sunbathing area onto the front section of the couachroof. Here, you can bask in the sun or simply strecth your body on the finely designed quarter-circle banquette surrounding a small low table. Even if no drops splash on you, the intense salt carried along by the sea breaze will certainly penatrate into each pore, forming a sticky layer. And this would be good for you skin, they say…
